For the first time England, Scotland and Wales have been separately represented in this, the second most prestigious event in the World Championship calendar. The performance of the England teams has been excellent, particularly that of the Open team who reached the semi-finals.

This inaugural event was won by U.S.A. from a field of 24 teams. England were a very creditable fourth.

This inaugural event was won by Austria from a field of 22 teams. England finished 17th.
