The
Best of Gray - the Country
Life Book of Bridge Revisited Older readers will remember reading Maurice Harrison-Gray's articles in their newspapers and magazines. Many will also have the classic Country Life Book of Bridge in their collection. Raymond Brock revisits many of Gray's best pieces in this book, one of three recent releases from Britain's newest bridge publishers. Brock has effectively edited and updated Gray's original book, replacing those passages that had become dated with material from many of the original author's articles. As readers always expected from Gray, the hands are both interesting and thought-provoking. This new version of the classic also includes a selection of photographs of the players featured. Brock has retained Gray's original, rather dry, style, so this is not the kind of book that you will want to read in one sitting. Like a fine wine, matured with age, it is to be sipped, rather than gulped - and delving into it over an extended period will be a rewarding experience.
