MSO World Wide Charity Simultaneous Pairs
22 & 23 August 2000

How it will work

Clubs will need to register with their National Bridge Organisations, by email. The NBO should then email anna@ecats.co.uk with the club details, including the email address of the person who is to receive the hands.

Anna will then contact that person directly by email, and send them details of how the hands are to be sent, including a sample file for them to test to ensure that they are able to read and print it.

All the documents will be in Acrobat PDF format, which requires Acrobat Reader. This is free from www.adobe.com and people who are going to be involved should ensure that they have this program.

The hands will be sent on travellers, ready for the pairs to make up at the table (or for someone unconnected with the event to make up in advance). A copy of the booklet with the commentary will also be sent, so if clubs wish, they can print this out to give to people.

Simple Scoring Program provided on CD

Clubs participating in the World Wide Contest at the beginning of June will already have the scoring program for the event. It is also available for download from the ECats site, or a CD can be sent to clubs who need it and provide their name and address to Anna Gudge.

Alternatively, clubs which have their own scoring software can amend this to interface to the ECats scoring system quite simply and details can be found by download the Specification for the interface. The ECats FTP client will be needed in order to upload these results to the server.

Session Numbers for the MSO Charity Pairs

The session numbers for these two events will be:

Tuesday 22 August 2000 2208
Wednesday 23 August 2000 8023

These numbers are needed for the scoring program so that the files are uploaded to the correct session. Clubs are asked to double check that they have put the correct numbers into the program - if they are for the wrong session, the frequencies look most peculiar, and if they are just incorrect, your results will not appear on the web site at all.

Acrobat format Commentary on the Web Site

Once the event is over (i.e. by mid-day on 23 August for the Tuesday competition, and by mid-day on 24 August for the Wednesday competition) the commentary will also be available here, as a downloadable .pdf file - so all you will require is Acrobat Reader and you will be able to get them and print them.

Of course the commentary on the live web site will keep growing so that you can read what other people have to say about the boards!
