Grand Juniors

Two of the young players who won the Junior World in Bali were Danny Davies and Phil Souter. They were in the team that came second in the EEC Championships in Greece. They were in the running for the best bid hand with this offering.

Another of the few pairs to bid the grand were Herve Mouiel and Alain Levy who, when I asked their sequence to the grand, remarked "You're not going to publish this I assume". It's too easy. Their sequence was

1 2 3 was forcing showing a spade control
2 3 4 & 4 were cue bids
4 4 4NT= RKC Blackwood
4NT 5 5 showed two aces + Q or extra length
5NT 6 5NT asking for extra values
7   6 showed the K

It was also bid by the French mixed team against the British. In this case the lady forgot the responses to a GSF and showed two top honours. She was lucky partner held the A and not the Q!
