MSO Games Director and computer chess expert
David Levy, creator of the Mind Sports Olympiad, began his
computer career at Glasgow University, where he taught Algol
programming and Artificial Intelligence during the early
1970s. David won a famous 10-year bet with the Artificial
Intelligence community that no computer program could win a
Chess match against him. An International Master in Chess, he
was the champion of Scotland in the late 60's and represented
Scotland in the Olympiads. He is President of the International
Computer Chess Association (ICCA). He is currently regarded as
one of the world's leading authorities on computer chess and is
a prolific author on the subject. His program CYRUS competed in
many major computer chess championships.
So you might well want to ask David about computer chess,
particularly about the Kasparov - IBM chess match. Or you might
want to ask him about the Mind Sports Olympiad and its future;
after all, who would know more about it?
David will be chatting live at
