Charity On-Line Bridge Tournament To Be Hosted by MSOWorld.com

In its ongoing commitment to both mind sports and the promotion of its "Millenium of the Mind" initiative, MSO Worldwide Ltd. has announced its intention to host a bridge tournament on its web site beginning in April. Proceeds benefit the Save the Children Fund, the ACBL Educational Foundation, and Institut pour la Rechaerche sure la Epinière. The bridge sessions themselves will be run at www.Bridgeplayer.com with the software needed for participation available for download from the Bridgeplayer site. A World Bridge Federation Tournament Director will be available for rulings if necessary. Free access will be allowed to the web site's practice rooms in advance of the tournament.

"These type of events are really exciting because they bring people from all over the world together," said Anna Gudge, MSO's Bridge Consultant and one of the organizers of the event, "Bridge is a common language and we all speak it, so we can all join in. Combine that with the fact that every hand is different and ... WOW!"

There are three phases to the competition with each phase requiring a $10 entry fee. A plus score in the first phase allows players to move on to the second phase. A plus score in the second phase allows them to move on to the third. Multiple entries are permitted in phases 1 & 2 but only one qualification per player will be allowed for phase 3. The leading 16 players will be invited to London, all expenses paid, to compete in the Final at the Mind Sports Olympiad taking place August 19 - 21. First prize is $2,000 US, second prize, $1,000, & third prize, $500.
