Brain Awards Encourage Website Visitors to Make History

What do John Glenn, Gene Roddenberry, Michael Gelb, Steven Redgrave and Professor Stephen Hawking have in common? They have all been given the special distinction of being voted "Brain of the Year" by MSO Worldwide Ltd., the company responsible for creating the Mind Sports Olympiad.

The idea was originated by Tony Buzan in the 1980s, and was launched in 1991 with the massive support of Vanda North, Raymond Keene, Sir Brian and Lady Mary Tovey and The Brain Trust Charity. The reputation of the award is buttressed by its outstanding Roll of Honour, its stringent Criteria, its ongoing relationship with The Brain Trust Charity, and the excellent quality of its sponsors: Peter Cundill & Associates, Encyclopedia Britannica, Silicon Graphics and most recently BURE, listed on the Swedish Stock Exchange, the international growth and knowledge-based company.

Now MSO's web site allows viewers the once-in-a-lifetime chance to make history by choosing not only the "Brain of the Year" but also the "Brain of the Decade", "Brain of the Century", "Brain of the Millennium" and the "Brain of All Time".

"As we launch ourselves into the 21st century, this unique and multi-faceted moment in time has just occurred: the end of the year; the end of the decade; the end of the century; and the end of the Millennium." said Mind Mapping creator, Tony Buzan, "This provides us with a one-in-a-thousand-years opportunity and we'd like to extend this opportunity to MSO web site viewers all over the world."

Voting has already begun and further information on how to get involved in the voting procedure has been placed on the MSO web site at http://www.msoworld.com/. MSO viewers will also be able to sign a Virtual Petition nominating the 21st century as the Century of the Brain and the third millennium as the Millennium of the Mind. The Virtual Petition will remain on the MSO web site all year.
