The Magic of the Human Mind Vs The Might of the Machine....

The third Mind Sports Olympiad will play host to an extraordinary Challenge Exhibition entitled Man v Machine. The challenge will pit human Mind Sports Champions against "perfect" computer programs in a series of five exhibition matches. The event, to be held at London's Olympia Conference Centre from August 23-27, will consist of matches of one to seven games, with each match expected to last up to 3-4 hours!

This mental marathon will showcase some of the foremost tacticians in the fields of : Go, Shogi, Othello, Backgammon and Scrabble. The Exhibition programme will feature Reigning British Under 12 Go Champion, Tom Eckersley-Waites, and Pan-Atlantic Shogi Champion Larry Kaufman in the matches on 23rd and 24th of August, respectively. The latter part of the week-long event will see Kenta Tominaga from Japan test his Meijin (world champion) status against the mighty Logistello in the Othello challenge, and Mark Nyman, former Scrabble World Champion and host of TV's "Countdown" challenge for supremacy against the Scrabble machine.

The Man v Machine Exhibition Games will provide a unique insight into mental stamina and strategy, as International Mind Sports' wizards take on the mighty challenge of Artificial Intelligence.
